Season 16: Currents
Season 16: Currents explores the flow of musical ideas, cultural influences, and human connection through performances that move both heart and mind. The season opens September 27 with Julia & Friends—featuring the Artonic Quartet and pianist Jeffrey Sykes—whose program of Mendelssohn and DvoÅ™ák reflects classical currents passed between friends, mentors, and generations. On November 15, clarinetist Ilya Shterenberg and pianist Scott Cuellar delve into expressive masterworks, tracing the emotional and artistic currents between composers and performers. The season continues January 11 with the Stanton Street Duo’s tango-inspired program for harmonica and guitar, highlighting rhythmic and cultural currents flowing between the Americas and beyond.
On February 22, Grammy-winning choir Conspirare channels spiritual and communal currents through choral works that uplift and renew. A spring recital with a Young Artist Medalist showcases the emerging currents of talent shaping the future of classical music. And on June 20, Mariachi Las Alteñas closes the season with a free outdoor concert, inviting all to celebrate the vibrant cultural currents that unite and inspire our community.
Together, these concerts form a season that invites audiences to gather, listen deeply, and be carried by the living energy of music.
