(The Myriad Trio | February 23, 2019) What a wonderful gift to all in attendance, the magic of three different instruments joined as one. It is a rare occasion to hear the Harp but on this evening it was played by a true professional, one outstanding piece written by the English composer Arnold Bax who lived in Ireland. This expressive playing put us on the rocks facing the Atlantic to the meadows and valleys of that beautiful country. The Blend of flute and viola complemented the visual scene. This was just one example, the renditions of Gershwin invited all to take to the floor in that imaginary smoke filled room, drifting to the sultry music played just as it should be. The varied works of other composers including Claude Debussy and Antonin Dvorak, brought out the best of the flute and viola. When the players are called back to give us one more listening pleasure, you know that we have heard the best of the best. I am sure this group would be a return favorite.

(Jonah Kim, cello | June 3, 2018) Wow the first words from my mouth after the initial piano music, what can happen now. The timing and tempo moved on to a new place in joining two instruments together I could not differentiate between piano and cello. A classic joining of instruments only compared by two singers taking the same tune and playing as one. The magic and atmosphere were awesome, mouths dropped in such unbelieved unison unable to capture what they were hearing. What a delight for Blanco music lovers one person travelled form Dallas could not believe the value for money we offered. In hearing the music we heard today we must question how much higher we can go, we have reached for the stars and grabbed a part of hearing talent that is beyond compare. It was a little like putting marbles in a jar not knowing which one you really wanted to capture. These two young men captured an audience and for two hours put them in the jar of an unquestionable excellent performance. Talent such as this has to be heard to be believed.

Blake Turner and Friends Concert — (April 23, 2018) Again another wonderful evening, wonderful to see so many enjoying the music, from the initial lonely strings of the opening to the character of Texas music, a wonderful blend that could fit anyone’s taste. The second produced an enthralling adventure into the wilds of the islands of the North Sea and its venturesome people. facing odds that many would be unable to cope with. I felt being carried away at the romance and the dancing and general merry making as the music played on. The finale brought everything together, easy to imagine that all of the guests would have needed rest after such festivities. The audience were enthralled it seemed the players had been part of a group over many years. Their enthusiasm shone through and played into the hands of those in attendance.

An evening with the Miro — (February 17, 2018) It seemed as if the group were in our own home giving us our own special treat. If anyone did not enjoy the evening. I am truly sorry, we were given a stop in time, one of those rare occasions in life when most of the audience were spell bound by the performance. Each note from the individual instrument was heard but with a unique sound joined in unison as one. It’s no wonder Miro has drawn music lovers to their sounds from around the globe. I feel Blanco can once again be proud of an enchanting evening second to none. The gift of wonderful music from unquestioned talent, gave us a taste that many would envy. The last piece the Ashokan Farewell selected for Vickie, was played with the sensitivity so overwhelming with passion, it could not be repeated at any other time or place, or by others as the rendition by Miro, truly a magical moment.

A Treasure — What they did was the highest creative effort a human can do. Each of them was excellent in their own way and then they put it all together. It blew me away!"

Wow Evening — It wasn't just Eduardo Rojas' technique or his wonderful expressiveness -- there was something about his approach to the piano... very accessible. He made that piano sound like an instrument you'd like to own yourself because of the sound he got out of it. I just thought it was a wow evening."

"Beyond Entertainment — Joel Becktell and Carla McElhaney did provide, as the Blanco County News headline announced, extreme entertainment last Saturday night. Their impeccable technique was astounding, but even more than that, their understanding and communication of the music absolutely drew the audience in. I personally was brought to tears at the end of the Rachmanioff Andante. We truly had a musical experience, really much more than entertainment."
