Therese Honey began to specialize in Medieval and Renaissance music after attending Historical Harp Society Conferences and hearing early music played on reproductions of historical harps. She draws her repertoire from many sources, including the music of Hildegard von Bingen, the Cantigas de Santa Maria, the Llibre Vermell, the Faenza Codex, and Renaissance vocal and dance music.
She also plays continuo with Baroque ensembles. Her performances utilize historical harps appropriate to the music and bring her performances to life with anecdotal and humorous stories, garnered from her vast knowledge of harp lore and legend.
Since the release of her first solo Irish CD in 2008, Abby Green has become a growing voice on the Irish music scene. Abby plays her Irish Cittern (five course bouzouki) and shares her rich soaring voice to tell the tale in Irish, Scots Gaelic and in English.
Abby performs frequently as a soloist, and also enjoys the company of pipers, flutists, fiddlers, and harmonizing singers. You may hear her perform with Istanpitta Early Music Ensemble as lead and harmonizing vocalist, percussionist on frame drums and tabor, and energetic, audience interacting storyteller.
As a native Texan, her love of Celtic songs, languages, and tunes has been a true journey of discovery. She enjoys unlocking the treasures of beautiful music often hidden behind the veil of languages unusual to our English speaking eyes and ears.
